On a recent winter night in Wallingford, 350 people gathered at Zandri’s Stillwood Inn to raise money for the Wallingford Emergency Shelter. At the helm of the event were Karen Pomarico of our Cheshire office, and Linka Lewis of our Hamden office.
Karen has served as Treasurer for Wallingford Emergency Shelter, Inc. for the past year. She joins Linka, a veteran of the Shelter for approximately 20 years, on the Board.
The fundraiser was held to benefit the new Annex at the Wallingford Emergency Shelter, which will help house women and children in emergency situations, allowing them a safe, private place to get back on their feet.
The family-style dinner was followed by the live entertainment of a hypnotist, comedian, and a DJ, who had the place hopping! Local businesses donated raffle items.
Between the profits from the dinner and the raffle items, $20,000 was raised! In addition, Trail of Terror, a local business that opens for Halloween each year, donated $75,000 to the Annex cause.
The $95,000 raised will help procure an engineer to get the Annex construction underway.
Karen and Linka, we’re so proud of all your hard work and this hugely successful event.
